200,000 lb Proof Load – The lack of a very heavy duty test standard created the need for a line of measurement. Although no independent standard refers to this measure, it has become widely accepted. Airport extra heavy duty wheel loads up to 100,000 lbs; with an engineering safety factor of 2 applied, a 200,000 lb proof load is used.
